How to Style Silk Scarves - Ideas for Creating Stylish Outfits with Designer Scarves

While modern fashion can feel restrictive with colors and silhouettes that brands want us to wear, there is a lot of potential for creativity for the ones who choose style above trends.
Today I will share with you the best tips for styling silk scarves, so these outfits will make you feel happy, confident, and will add status and unique style to your look.

First of all, I want to mention that wearing such an artistic accessory as a designer scarf, can confuse us about the palette we choose for the rest of the outfit, so it will look harmonious and not overwhelming.
That's why the most popular designs in my collection are the ones that are in beige, beige&black or black&gold palettes. These scarves have a minimal colour spectrum, which leaves us a wide choice of outfits to combine with, also monochromatic or beige designs match to every skin and hair colour. And let's be honest, beige, black and gold colours are forever fashionable and look stylish.

To continue about the palette of the outfit, I have three simple and stylish approaches for you:

1. While choosing a scarf, or when you already have a certain design purchased, detect a primary colour in the scarve's artwork. For example, if the scarf is very colourful, but the painting has a black background, you can bravely go with a total black outfit. Or if the pattern has few different colours, but one of them pops out just a little bit more than others, it can be your primary colour to work with.
By following this rule you will never look too bright, even with your colorful accessory.

These are some examples of this styling approach:

2. Second styling approach is about your Beauty Colour Type by Season. Making the choice of the scarf and the outfit will depend on this classification. The exeption will be the classical palette we talked about earlier (beige, black, sometimes with a touch of gold or silver).

This theory is based on four colour types: Spring, Summer, Autumn and Winter. Which seasonal type you are depends on two basic variables:
- The undertone of your skin, hair and eyes (warm/golden vs cool/ashy).
- How light or deep your overall colouring and specifically your hair is.

In this article you can find more information about these beauty types. *Please keep in mind that “Your Season” can be adjusted or changed with makeup and it does not have to be 100% one season, your beauty type can be the blend of a few seasons.
While having a palette to choose from, according to this classification, I will yet recommend sticking to the garments with none or minimal patterns and choosing not more than 2 colours for the rest of the outfit to compliment the scarf. It will be great if one-to-two colours in the scarve's artwork will exactly match your garment.

* Also knowing your beauty type by season can help you to choose the color that you wear close to your face. For example, if your outfit breaks these classification rules and makes your skin look too pale or too yellow, you can still enhance your skin color, make it look fresher and younger. Just choose the right color of scarf/garment that is the closest to your face according to "Your Season".

3. And my last tip for you is wearing the matching accessories, yet wearing the garments of the most simple/classical colour, using it as a background for these accessories.
For example, wearing a colourful scarf with matching colourful shoes. I find it fantastic. It completes the outfit in such an amazing way and it's also a big trend of the last decade.
