How to find inspiration for life, art and self-love?

Find your inspiration for life, creating art and self-love in this article!

Any of our emotional states can be a great source of inspiration. We unfold most fully when we are connected with ourselves. The challeng, and the beauty — is that we can feel fulfilled and inspired at any stage of life, even when it feels incredibly hard.
Self-expression through art is a powerful tool for healing the soul. Our creations reflect our emotions — happiness, pain, love, sadness, charm, anger — and we always find joy in the act of creating, whatever the emotion might be. It’s a healthy practice to embrace the life that’s happening to you right now and to release it through whatever form of creative expression you choose. And the magic is this: someone else will see your art, and it will heal them too, just as it healed you while you were making it.

As a person who has gone through many years of depression — sometimes close to suicidal states — and still kept creating in those darkest times, I know for certain that it’s incredibly important to express yourself through all the stages of life, in safe, non-toxic, and non-destructive ways. Whether it’s dancing, painting, screaming alone in a field, hitting a pillow, or crying into the earth — we all deserve to cleanse our subconscious of the emotions that are waiting to be released.

So what inspires us to live, to enjoy life, to love ourselves, and to create?

Inspiration Requires:

  • Emotions

  • Time

  • Energy

Emotions.

To be able to feel yourself and leverage your emotions, you need to take good care of yourself.

Create safety. Feeling safe lowers stress. Beyond basic security, a sense of community reminds us we’re not alone. Keeping your home cozy adds to that feeling — your own little bubble where you can do your things.

Care for your body. Exercise (any kind or intensity), massage, contrast showers, and breathing exercises all help. Our breath regulates the nervous system, and learning to relax the body lays the foundation for mental health.

Spend time in nature. Nature and animals offer fresh inspiration and calm.

Celebrate small wins. If you have long-term goals, that’s great — but daily satisfaction matters. Do something small and achievable each day, like a short workout, face massage, or a creative hobby. Even a few minutes of success can keep you going when motivation is low.

Immerse yourself in joyful activities. Hobbies, meaningful conversations, walks, meditation, music, movies — anything that fully captures your attention helps relax your mind and improve focus afterward.

Feed your soul. Trust that tough times are part of growth and temporary. Practice gratitude, center your energy inward, appreciate yourself unconditionally, and give yourself a hug — you deserve it!

Seek professional help if needed. Therapy and medication can be important during hard times. If self-help isn’t enough, don’t hesitate to ask for support.

This list is endless. I encourage you to explore happy hormones and find the personal solutions that work best for you.

Any emotional expression is released more fully in art when we find ways to feel safe, relaxed, and slow down for a moment—to truly hear ourselves.

Time

We trick ourselves with the idea of time. Though we all measure it the same — years, days, hours, seconds — how differently it flows in each moment! What helps us use time well for our goals is focus.

Our energy follows what we pay attention to, whether that’s our thoughts or the world around us. Our thinking shapes how we understand reality and move through life — essentially, how we move through time.

When we focus on what destroys or disturbs us, or what doesn’t move us forward, we feel like there’s never enough time to do what we truly want. The dreams seem distant, and life feels like it’s passing by too fast.

It’s a scary thought, isn’t it?

I know life gets crazy busy — work, family, and everything else. But here’s an important truth: You are the main person in your life. Because all you have is your world. You don’t live in your children’s world or your partner’s world. They have their own realities, and you have yours. You create your time.

By focusing on what you want, using your willpower, changing your thinking, trusting the process, and planning your time, you can achieve a lot. It’s easier said than done, but it’s worth it.

Energy

Energy is a combination of the first two aspects — emotions and time management.

Common ways we lose energy and mental space include:

  1. Taking responsibility for things or people that don’t need it. For example, solving a friend’s problems when they haven’t asked, or trying to teach your partner how to live. Sometimes, simply accepting people as they are (if you can) is a bigger, more natural form of support. Instead of playing the savior or teacher role, focus on taking full responsibility for your own health.

  2. Dwelling too much on the past.

  3. Procrastination.

  4. Feeling like a victim: “I’m not worthy,” “I can’t do it well enough,” and similar thoughts.

  5. Spending too much attention on things or people you can’t control. For example, politics.

  6. Lying to yourself or others.

  7. And more.

By managing your energy, you guide yourself toward inspiration, creativity, and self-love.

Conclusion

In the end, inspiration is the energy of love — love for anything. We love what we feel, what we see, what we touch… This spark of light is what we desire for living. Find this point of love within yourself, and you can be inspired right now.
